Srishti School of Art, Design and Technology

The two years postgraduate Advanced Diploma Prgramme in Experimental Media Arts is offered by Srishti's Centre for Experimental Media Arts (CEMA), the first such centre in India.

CEMA was set up in 2007 to pioneer pathways for graduates from any discipline with adequate prior learning, explorations and the potential to pursue their deeper interest in contemporary media arts.

Since its launch, CEMA and the Experimental Media Arts program have been instrumental in attracting international artists-in-residence and students who want to veer off the beaten path into experimental spaces.

This experimental media arts program seeks artists, hackers, writers, engineers and scientists to enroll and collaboratively develop their work with artists-in-residence on projects that have both local and global value. The program is also a space for innovative trans-disciplinary research.

The work of those involved in the Experimental Media Arts program also seeds the undergraduate programs in Srishti and allows for researchers and artists at CEMA to find a ready pool of students, both under-graduate and graduate, who are interested in and willing to work on superlative projects.

Students in this experimental media arts program are expected to exhibit epistemological development and intellectual growth in their approach and execution or research and creative work throughout the program. Although first-year students are expected to take an exploratory approach to their work, evidence of substantial work is expected by the end of the year. By the end of the second year, evidence of a developing focus is expected. This focus will culminate with an oral presentation and research document at the end of the second year, and an integrated body of creative work and distribution event by the end of their final semester. An exhibition of the final diploma thesis will be the culminating event of the final semester and will lead to the awarding of the Advanced Diploma.
