The Interim Semester at Srishti Institute of Art, Design and Technology is an annual initiative that aims to nurture emerging creativity by engaging with contemporary artists and artistic practices. It culminates in a showcase of projects produced and presented during the four weeks of the Interim.
Through the duration of the Interim semester, students work with National and International contemporary artists who are invited through the Srisht interim Artist-in-Residency Program (SAIR). The artists either bring in their on-going projects, or create and facilitate projects – all of which explore socially engaging, participatory and context-led content.
Srishti provides this opportunity for students to go beyond the classroom and enter the public realm, where they delve into creative processes of research, re-enactment, documentation, facilitation and production. The range of projects that take place explore culturally relevant subject matter that is often contentious. They comprise of community based efforts, interactions between art and the sciences, and artistic and curatorial interventions that are site-specific.
