In a world when driverless cars seem to be around the corner, one wonders who is imagining this limited vision for the future of transportation, and for whom? What needs, desires and dreams make people move and where to?
This project aims to use creative and artistic methods of thinking to envisage and build scenarios around the future of transportation. Working through case studies and critical discussion, students will familiarize themselves with the historical and socio-technical context of transportation, both locally and globally. They will use a range of forms such as rapid prototypes, films, installations, publications, site-specific live events and web exhibitions, to critique stereotypical representations of technological ‘progress’, while exploring a more imaginative approach to the basic question of ‘transportation’.
