The Itinerant Illustrator

This symposium is the 5th International Illustration Research event hosted by Srishti Institute of Art, Design and Technology. It was organized in collaboration with the peer reviewed Journal of Illustration, Manchester Metropolitan University (MMU) and Cardiff School of Art and Design (CSAD). The symposium focused on the praxis of illustration in an expanded field, including histories of local/regional illustrative practices and the traversing of diverse media platforms. Dr. Sandeep Ashwath from Srishti was one of the main organizers. For more Information click here

Comparing Experimental Cinema

During the period from 18th to 20th of December 2015 Srishti in collaboration with the CREAM, University of Westminster, UK conducted a symposium “Comparing Experimental Cinemas”. Comparing Experimental Cinemas aims to develop a theoretically advanced and financially sustainable method for mapping histories and modes of artists’ moving image experimentation across localities in Asia and beyond. The event was organized by Ms. Shai Heredia (Srishti) and Dr. May Adadol (University of Westminster). For more Information click here

Study Courses:

1. India Now

Delivered in collaboration with the Massachusetts College of Art and Design (MassArt). The program which targets both undergraduate and graduate students from both institutions explores the existing socio-cultural patterns, their relationship with the environment and observe emerging trends. The course program includes a study tour to the Andaman Islands.

2. Splice: The Iconic Joint

Delivered in collaboration with the School of Design, at the University of Pennsylvania (“PennDesign”). This studio-based course forms part of a larger collaboration “Reimaging and Reimagining the Western Ghats”. As a part of their studies a joint group of students from PennDesign and Srishti carried our field work in Udupi and South Canara, Western Ghats.


Workshops:

1. Startup Camp

A collaborative project between Srishti Labs and DMBA, California College of the Arts.
Following workshops were offered to startup leaders in Bangalore: “Creating Meaningful Customer Relationships” - by Nathan Shedroff (DMBA, CCA) and “Design Thinking Tools - Research, Analysis and Synthesis” by Dr. Girish Prabhu and Ms. Beena Prabhu (Srishti Labs).

2. Dynamic Value Model - another collaboration between Srishti Labs and California College of the Arts. This two-day workshop was delivered by Nathan Shedroff (DMBA, CCA) together with Bert Aldridge (Strategy & Design Director at Heyday, New Zealand).

Research Projects:

1. Reimaging and Reimagining the Western Ghats

This is a collaborative project among Dilip da Cunha and Anuradha Mathur, at the University of Pennsylvania, Vivek Dhareswhar at Bangalore Human Sciences Initiative (Srishti BHSI), and Deepta Sateesh (Design+Environment+Law Laboratory (DEL Laboratory)).
